If you ask any Falcons Landing resident about the decision to move into a senior living community, they will most likely recommend doing it as soon as you can to take advantage of all the opportunities retirement has to offer. But, there are a few myths and misperceptions about life in a retirement community that might be holding you back.

Here are five of the biggest misconceptions about senior living we often hear. Let’s bust these myths:

1. “I’m not old enough to live in a community for seniors.”
At Falcons Landing, nothing could be further from the truth! Our residents share an adventurous spirit, a zest for travel, entertainment and lifelong learning. We offer a variety of recreation and fitness activities, lectures, concerts, art classes, and trips. From biking to book groups, you can enjoy your retirement to the fullest. And, if you don't see it on the schedule, our Community Life team will work with you to make it happen. Learn more about all of our activities here.

2. “It’s too expensive.”
Life at Falcons Landing is more affordable than you might think. Often, people look only at the monthly cost of a residence without considering all the costs of maintaining a home. With our model of senior living, you know what your costs will be every month without worrying about whether you will need to fix the roof, mow the lawn, fix the plumbing or replace the furnace. Our maintenance-free lifestyle offers peace of mind with no surprise maintenance bills. Also, if you need more health care, it is available on our campus.

3. “It’s too hard to even think about a move to a new place.”
With our beautiful homes and friendly community, you’ll settle in and enjoy life at Falcons Landing much quicker than you’d expect. In fact, most of our residents say they only wished they’d moved sooner. One of our newest residents recently moved here from California and expected that he would not know anyone. He was delighted to see that a former colleague was now his new neighbor. It’s a small world!

4. “It just won’t feel like home.”
Our comfortable and well-appointed apartments and cottages, tree-lined streets, lush gardens and convenient community center are all wonderful, but it is the warm and welcoming neighbors who will quickly make you feel at home.

5. “I won’t be able to just do my own thing.”
At Falcons Landing, the opposite is true. You live life on your own terms. We are here to support and cheer you on. Just consider us your home base for all your retirement adventures.
