Lt. Col. John La Raia graduated from the University of Rochester and served with the United States Air Force as a navigator on KC135 refueling tankers. After leaving active duty, he earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Rockefeller School of Public Affairs at the State University of New York. Continuing his affiliation with the Air Force, he served as a reserve logistics plans officer assigned to Headquarters USAF. Mr. La Raia began his civilian career with the Department of the Navy serving successively as Director of Human Resources, leading civilian personnel and EEO programs for the Office of the Secretary and the Chief of Naval Operations; Comptroller and Director of Financial Management, managing a $1B+ budget for the Office of the Secretary; and a senior executive principal staff assistant for administrative matters to the Secretary and Under Secretary of the Navy, where he managed a 125 person staff with a business portfolio consisting of 13 distinct functional areas. After retiring from Federal Service he worked as a consultant and executive, in addition to serving as a Board Member and Secretary of the Army and Navy Club of Washington, DC.
